America was founded on an idea, the idea that all men are equal. Men could come here in the beginning with nothing and become a rich man. Titles meant nothing and men and women proved their worth. With this idea came the beginnings of Human Rights. Human Rights stated that every man has the right to live and breath, the right to make his life as he wants it.
But this idea, like most things humans create, has become corrupt. Most people think that Human rights aren’t just the right to be what you wish. They believe it is to do what you wish. The idea now is, I live therefore I deserve. The government was and is supposed to be for the people. This does not mean giving the people what they want, but what they need.
Today if a man wants to do something immoral and make it legal, he simply pressures the government enough and he gets it. Pornography, immoral sexuality, abortions, drugs, Murder, Obesity, etc. are allowed/happen because the government is constantly giving the people what they want, not what they need. Politicians need to stop worrying about what the people won't like...and simply do! Forget what the people will think and do what is morally right. Ban porn and the other immoral things. But our governments won't do that. Why, because they'll lose votes.
What is the solution? Take matters into our own hands? Open revolution? It could work. If a large enough group of people were to revolt, it might be possible to set up a government that would give what the people need. A skilled commander could even do it without firing a shot. Many would say that the government is too powerful. But the fact is the government only has as much power as you give it. Weapons and equipment could be easily bought on the black market. But most likely people are too comfortable to do anything to change the government. Most people have the idea. "Why change anything, we're America for god sakes?"
Too bad.
